Telling off

So today, is the day when I have to speak to her. regarding work. Like how I would like stuff to be done in a particular way and not just like that.
whew.

Most people would find it easy. I don't. For me, gimme my office people, it's easy. But all this household help and I am in a fix.
Maybe because as kids we never dealt with servants. Mommy did. All we wanted would be conveyed to her and it'd be done. So simple na.

Well, we got to grow up one day, i need to too.

While I'm off to tell her off, you, in the meanwhile, have a good day.

Firings and all..

AWRIGHT, I did it. It was difficult for an instant, but then she made it easy. she made sure I didn't feel any pain when i did it.

i fired my maid.

Mean feat, you say? Hah. Ask me. It took a lot of grit to work up that courage to be able to shoo her out, knowing that she was the only household help I have. And knowing Gurgaon as it is, it's difficult to find another one, in a jiffy.
The boyfriend too, whole heartedly supported the move. I am grateful for that. The support he gave. After all, in her absence, he will need to help - chopping, peeling, cleaning. :D

Valentine's Day

I had the perfect Valentine's Day.

I was supposed to pick him up, but got delayed by an hour.
Had a couple of small squabbles on our way.
Were hoping to catch a movie, 'No strings attached'. Couldn't get the tickets, the only two available were separate seats.. well, then roamed around in the mall, went to dlf, vasant kunj.
went upstairs to the food court.. had a goooood meal, that ended even better with the waffle and chocolate syrup, Yumm! :)

Drove back home in the rain..
Yes it was perfect.

Another girl would probably be wanting a box of chocolates or a bunch of flowers or a stuffed toy(gag!). not me.
For me, what we did was best. Just be ourselves, and have a good time. This came with the comfort of knowing that I have him with me always.
This came with the comfort of knowing that whether it is valentine's or not, the love's not lost.

This is why, I say, It was the most perfect Valentine's Day. :)

The List

I don’t think I have said it enough number of times. I don’t think any number of times would be enough, either. Thinking of reasons why I feel like that about you is not easy either. Here is an attempt at a non exhaustive list

10. You love me when I am cribbing

9. You smile at me first thing in the morning

8. You are right, most of the times. Okay, all of the times.

7. You taste super. Even after a beer and smoke.

6. You are the cutest babe around

5. You are HOT. Period.

4. MY own Calvin Klein model.

3. You let me play angry birds.

2. You can read my mind just like that, in the blink of an eye.

1. You make me happy. So happy.

The rough patch

Okay, finally, we have reached this patch too. The rough patch, love. It’s like the kind of stage when you are just about getting comfortable with each other, and then it hits you. And hits you real bad too. That where is the romance. Well, not the romance ‘romance’, but the other type of it.

Okay, now we are comfortable in our sweats around each other. Un-waxed legs are also not too much of a problem, em, at least for me. Eating with hands is cool. Family stories are no longer hush-hush. Other friends are, well, the others now.

It’s alright and all that, until an email from astrology.com shows up(and wakes me up) that says

Are You Two Best Friends and Lovers?

Best friends alright, but where did the lovers vanish, mon chéri?!

Sector 31, Gurgaon

Sector 31, gurgaon.

This is a very small market. Developed by HUDA in sector 31, gurgaon.

I love it cuz it had the old world charm of markets like the ones in chandigarh and in smaller cities. The laid back slow moving people all day, yet come evening the place is abuzz with young and old alike.

There are a few departmental stores, Spencers, Reliance Fresh and what not. Even a Next store (the electronics retail chain).

It has a Café coffee day and Om Sweets as the main eateries.

But that is not why we went there.

That day was specially earmarked for roadside food. Yay!

The background – Being brought up here in Delhi, by parents both big ‘foodies’, I have always loved the concept of street food. Be it gol gappe or bhel puri, bring it on, I’m forever ready for a bite! But he, on the othe,r has still not warmed up to the idea of standing out and eating. Not even sitting in the car and eating is acceptable. Funny, how different this is with us here, the dilliwalaas. So we have really not been eating on the streets too much.

I thought we’d take away, get home and eat. But he had something else in mind.

After polishing off the very hot and tasty bhelpuri, we walked around and settled upon the south Indian food kiosk (comfort food for my south Indian boyfriend’s soul).

From the multitude of options from there, I chose a plain rava dosa and he had a masala dosa. Standing right there.

The food was alright. Nothing to write home about (so I won’t even venture into reviewing that), but the experience was super. It is a tiny stall run by a south Indian family. The wife being the cook cum server cum manager cum accountant cum the customer care end of it with the husband being the cook. She knows hindi, the husaband, I doubt does. The small cart lit with only the gas lamp was sure a crowd magnet. A lot of people came up to get stuff packed with a string of students eating there besides us as well.

Food : * *

Ambience : * * *1/2

Service : * * *1/2

Overall experience : * * * 1/2

p.s. : his thoughts post the meal – so now we have done your street food also. And yes, because of the weather, the experience was not bad at all.

I am touched.
